Ballet and Tap Dance for children 3-9years
"Kids: they dance before they learn there is anything that isn't music.” William Stafford
Ballet and Tap Dance Classes for boys and girls aged 3-9 years
Ballet is excellent for posture, musicality and coordination. Class is taught to classical music with beautiful exercises that gently introduce all the ballet favorites in a fun way. These classes have lots of creative exercises for children to use their imagination and explore the wonderful world of ballet.
Tap dancing is one of the most enjoyable forms of dance and for young children it really helps with coordination, rhythm and musicality. Lots of fun guaranteed!
The classes are suitable for children aged 3-9 years. The first part of the lesson is devoted to a beautiful ballet warm-up and learning traditional steps and movements. The second half of the lesson moves onto to the tap section which includes toe taps, heel digs, step taps, touches and much more, progressing to more complex steps like shuffles and pick ups. Children will have fun learning to clap rhythms and then dance them to a mixture of traditional tap dancing tunes, popular chart music and musical theatre songs.
Dress code - Something easy to move in, such as a leotard and skirt, tights or leggings, shorts and t-shirt etc. Whilst it is not compulsory to wear ballet/tap shoes it is preferred as the correct shoes protect children’s feet and make movement easier on the studio floor. With tap dance the sound is much clearer on the studio floor with tap shoes. For the first class socks, bare feet, or smooth soled shoes are absolutely fine. Once you know your child would like to sign up for a course then the teacher can advise on the different types of shoes, taps and cost. Shoes and dance wear can be purchased through our store at discounted prices for students.
